Squamish Fishing Oceans, Rivers, and Lakes: Squamish has them, so the fishing options are many and varied. Whether you are looking for steelhead, deep sea flatfish, or lake trout, Squamish has options for many fishing adventure. Howe Sound offers a variety of ocean fishing options with Britannia Beach, Furry Creek, and Porteau Cove being popular local options to find Chinook, rockfish, or flounder. Many of the lakes in the Squamish area are stocked with trout, offering a quiet day out surrounded by forests and mountains. Alice Lake and the other lakes (Stump & Edith) within the Park are great options for rainbow trout. A little further north, Brohm and Cat Lakes avoid the crowds and offer great settings and more rainbow or cutthroat trout. The Highway-side Browning Lake at Murrin Park is a great option if you want to get some fishing in while your family enjoys the beach nearby.
The Squamish River and its tributaries (the Mamquam, Cheakamus, and Ashlu) are prime salmon habitat. The best chinook and coho seasons are in the late summer through to November, while February to May, and particularly April are the best time to try for Steelhead. The fly fishing for steelhead in the Squamish River has been well noted as excellent. The Squamish Valley beyond mile 15 and Paradise Valley both offer excellent full day fishing trips. |
